Development as a writer:
Throughout the duration of this course, I have noticed a change in my writing and my peer review skills. Using others peer reviews of my own writing has exposed me to ideas that had not previously been on my mind or even in my scope of consideration. Specifically, on project 3, I was not given any ideas that fully changed the way I connected my sources; however, I was previously unsure of how my point would come across. After reading the peer review sheets it came to my attention that my point was fully understood and that my connections were clear and relevant. This made me regain my confidence in my writing, something that would not have happened if peer review was something our class did not do. As a peer reviewer myself, I enjoy giving people the same confidence boosts as well as constructive criticism to challenge them as a writer. Usually, the biggest error I come across during peer review sessions is grammar and formatting. As the semester has progressed, I have been more capable of detecting these issues in others writing and therefore my own. These skills will support me through all my writing classes and has helped me through the other English course I am in currently. I can transfer over my developed review skills onto all the different writing assignments I do through the duration of my time here at UNE.
