I highlighted this quote because I felt as though it gave good insight to what this essay would be about. This is a strong belief of the EA’s as well and was useful in my personal essay to explain their philosophies.
I highlighted the metaphor pertaining to the drowning child because it was helpful in showing the EA’s perspective. This quote shows how literal they take situations, I used this in my argument to show how EAs are factual people.
The second quote I highlighted benefited and strengthened my argument about how EAs can use art to “reduce suffering and increase lifespan and happiness”. This is one of their strongest beliefs and was useful in connecting Yo-yo Ma’s ideals to the EA’s.
The words I circled on this page, “earn to give”, became one of my topics for my essay. I used Southan’s explanation of this philosophy in my essay and connected it to how art can be beneficial to spreading it.
This page was not entirely helpful for my argument; however, I did find it interesting. Southan’s point about contributing to culture rather than helping it struck my eye.
I thought this was a great way to close out the essay. I like how he calls himself “Net-Positive Man” and shows a little bit of his own personality in the conclusion.
