My name is Clare Cassidy, and I am a student at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. I am majoring in nursing, and I plan to graduate with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the spring of 2028. I was first introduced to nursing when I was around 14 years old while my grandfather was hospitalized after he was diagnosed with stage 3 leukemia. Being introduced to many different health care professionals at once was overwhelming for my young mind, but I could not help but become fully captivated by the compassion and care the nurses offered while surrounding my grandfather and my family. This part of my life made me realize my need to care for others. That, paired with finding my love for anatomy and physiology through some classes I took through my high school, lead me to wanting to get my license for being a nursing assistant. I left senior year of high school both having my LNA, and planning on continuing my education to become a nurse. I could not be more excited about expanding my knowledge about the health care field of nursing. I am also trying to get involved on campus by joining both the Student Nursing Association on the Biddeford campus, as well as the News Paper on the Biddeford Campus. I also plan to further my education after getting my BSN and becoming a Nurse Practitioner. My end goal is to own my own practice and be able to be my own boss. Although I am not sure what I want to specialize in at this point in time, I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge through clinical and in in class experience with each different type of nursing.
